Industrial fabric often needs to be cut into various shapes, and many times, the customer wants the edges to be sealed, so that the fiber does not fray. The use of a laser cutting process offers unique advantages and makes it easier to meet customer needs. During the cutting process, the net structure of fabric needs to remain as it was originally, and a traditional knife cutting process does not achieve that as the knife exerts too much force on the material. A laser is non-tactile, and does not influence the net structure. In addition, the laser system can weld fibers along the cut edge, thus sealing the edge. In some cases, 2 layers of fabric are cut and welded simultaneously.
